Deadpool Continues to Rule the Box Office

For a film that took 11 years to get off the ground, it appears that Ryan Reynolds unwavering patience with Marvel is about to see the studio giant make an absolute killing off it’s newest franchise, Deadpool.

The R-rated origins story about foul-mouthed anti-hero Wade Wilson has already shattered box office records as it continues to reign victorious at the top of the global box office, having now surpassed the $300 million dollar mark. Not bad for a film with a production budget a little south of $60 million.

Based on the character first seen in X-Men Origins: Wolverine back in 2009, Ryan Reynolds has spent the best part of 11 years convincing the big-wigs over at Marvel to fund his Deadpool project – often seeing it shelved in place of other projects such as Ant-Man and Spider-Man reboots.

But now having made the studio a whole pile of money for a relatively small investment (as far as superhero blockbusters go), it appears Reynolds has finally shredded the disappointing memory of Green Lantern in the most spectacular and ingeniously creative way possible.

With a sequel already green lighted by the studio and colossal fanbase heading back again and again to see first installment, it’s safe to say we’ll be seeing Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool a lot in the foreseeable future.
